World Diabetes Day takes place every year on 14 November, the birthdate of Frederick Banting, one of the scientists whose work led to the discovery of insulin. It's an event which draws attention and raises awareness about diabetes and its serious effects around the world. It's current theme is education and prevention and this year's slogan is 'Act on Diabetes. Now'. We celebrate our birthday on the same day, as we launched on World Diabetes Day in 2008.
